DIY Painted Paper Lantern

May’s First Friday always brings our entire community out for the annual ~ Family Block Party!  Friday evening we hosted ~ DIY Painted Paper Lanterns in our outdoor art studio from 4 – 8 PM.  Take a peek at a quick video clip to music!  Cheers to a wide-open canvas for all ages to explore!  A huge thank you to everyone for joining this festive event in downtown Carbondale | CO!  Take a peek at all the magic in our outdoor studio!  By the end of the night, all 130 paper lanterns were out of sight, heading home for colorful + creative delight!  Connect with us @handmakery on IG for the next creative + community + colorful happening!

Excited to announce 2018 SUMMER ART WORKSHOPS are online!

SUPPLIES:

• White paper lantern
• Liquid watercolors
• Paintbrushes
• White glue
• Sticks for glue application
• Embellishments: rhinestones, metallic confetti, sequins, glitter, metallic stars, tiny cut paper + more!

PROCESS:

ONE  A paper lantern is a very wide-open canvas to explore.  Construct your lantern.  Begin with liquid watercolor paints and a paintbrush.  Explore any design or color pattern your heart desires!

TWO  Glue on embellishments with a stick.  Hang to air dry.  Display!

On a little side note, we’ll be hosting the Roaring Fork Drawing Club in our downtown studio this week!  Join us this Wednesday at 6:30 PM with your drawing supplies for a fun + free + fresh + Carbondale community happening!

Last night our family attended the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet’s Folklórico at the Aspen District Theatre!  A beyond incredible performance celebrating Mexican folklóric dance in the heart of the Roaring Fork Valley!  Folklórico teaches artistic excellence, promotes positive youth development and encourages the crossing of cultural boundaries!  A huge congratulations to all the dancers on stage and their families over a beautiful Cinco de Mayo weekend!  A beyond impressive show with the most intricate + vibrant + most gorgeous costuming and most talented young dancers!
