Excited to share with you our art studio, the place where we make and create! Most often we are featuring DIY projects that we’ve created within our School Year + Summer ~hands on + mixed media~ Art Workshops with children. A few weeks ago, my superstar-art-friend Meri Cherry (yes, that’s her really name…don’t you just love it), over at Meri Cherry Blog mentioned that she was thinking about creating an artful roundup, featuring art studios + creative spaces! Honored that she invited us to join in! As some of you know, HANDMAKERY was recently invited to join a group of 20 international bloggers focused on creating art with children, the Rockin’ Art Moms! It has been amazing and truly inspiring to connect with this fabulous group of women! We’re so excited that you’ll get a chance to not only peek into our studio, but you’ll also get to say h-e-l-l-o and peek into the studios + creative spaces of some of our favorite Rockin’ Art Moms! A peek at creating in our outdoor art studio at May’s First Friday in historic downtown Carbondale | CO! HANDMAKERY: A Children’s Art Studio had the opportunity be a sponsor at the Family Block Party for a second year! The Family Block Party is an annual event that includes a fabulous live band, beautiful face painting, exciting carnival games + a bounce house, arts + crafts {with us}, sweet adoptable pets looking for a forever home, a silent auction full of amazing giveaways, food + drink hosted by The Village Smithy Restaurant and more! Funds benefit Colorado Animal Rescue, Children’s Rocky Mountain Preschool and Carbondale Recreation! This night wouldn’t be possible without all the fabulous organizers, volunteers, local businesses, community sponsors + supporters and all the MANY families + friends that attended the 4-8PM celebration of moving into spring!
Happy 1st Birthday HANDMAKERY, so wonderful that SO many amazing HANDMAKERY artists + volunteers joined us for an action packed evening! Last year we made our debut at Family Block Party 2013, which was another incredible night of celebration and art-making with children!

HANDMAKERY: A Children’s Art Studio set in the outdoors of downtown!
It was a beautiful fall day that started out a little chilly but quickly warmed up as the sun began to shine in the Colorado, bluebird sky! Art making began at 11 and didn’t end until well over 3PM as the children just kept coming downtown to create! We had over 40+, little aspiring artists come to our art making/outdoor studio to create HARVEST CROWNS made of recycled cardboard + noodles + kid friendly paints in an array of festive fall colors + glitter to dazzle! What a fabulous day of creative fun, set to the tunes of Polka + delicious Austrian food. Lots of locals were out and about mingling. Take a peek at our HANDMAKERY HARVEST CROWNS below! A HUGE thank you to Carbondale Recreation Department for organizing this family fun event for the fall and keeping it FREE! HANDMAKERY loved being part of Oktoberfest 2013!
