A collection of 30 pieces on our gallery wall created by local artist ~ Lindsay Jones! This collection will display through December! Lindsay is a contemporary artist, surface pattern designer, and graphic designer. She works in a variety of media including drawing, painting, digital art, sculptural constructions, and installations. Her fine art work reflects on ideas of landscapes and environments that are built, altered, shaped, and manipulated, while using playful patterns and abstracted imagery. When Lindsay is not working, you can find her outside camping, exploring remote lands, mountain biking in the desert, or racing cyclocross, all of which inspire her creative work.
A sculptural piece created by Lindsay Jones in her Pattern Recognition collection. Artists of all ages created “in the style of Lindsay” as they made flags in her unique style and color pallet.

On First Friday, we celebrated our fourth year making and creating at the annual Family Block Party in downtown Carbondale, Colorado! This year we were inspired to paint and embellish ice cream cones, as we’re heading into an ice cream theme for our upcoming workshop: BEEP BEEP! SWEET TREATS! This workshop will be focusing on retro ice cream truck sculptures, sweet treats, and more! There are just a few spaces if you’d like to join in! Here’s a peek at our upcoming summer + school year {hands on + mixed media} art workshops for Modish Mini Makers! My magical + mama + maker-friend, Bar over at Art Bar Blog, created an amazing DIY~ Cardboard Ice Cream Cones, which inspired our paper ice creams for this downtown event! Can you believe in just four hours, young artists created over 115 of these lovely ice cream cones as take-home treasures! The evening was like running our own ice cream parlor as it buzzed with sweetness! Join us over on our Instagram for more daily inspiration!
As the ice cream cones were drying, each unique piece created such a colorful + eye-catching + delicious backdrop!

Our Winter Vintage Cottages were created in our workshop HANDMAKERY FROM THE HEART: making + creating to give with 6 – 9 year olds! The Winter Vintage Cottage was our third project in a six-week session! The children absolutely LOVED working on these! Most children created their cottage as special gifts for a loved one! We were excited that the cottage could light up with a flameless tea light and be used for a nightlight! With all the windows it has fabulous ambiance! Our biggest challenge was finding enough of these fabulous little houses, but with friends and family searching across two states, we had just enough for our seventeen HANDMAKERY artists! Thank goodness for family and friends that searched high and low, making room in their travels for these delightful pieces to inspire! Here is a little gift to welcome your NEW YEAR focused on making + creating + crafting + exploring creativity + being hands-on + celebrating mixed-media! Exploring {hands-on + mixed-media + sculpture + mask making} in just four days together from 9AM to noon in our MAGICAL MASK MAKING workshop, each 6 – 9 year old artist created a magical dragon mask! Each artist was super excited to take home their 3-D sculpture just before the July 4th festivities got underway! We were thrilled to create eleven of these 3-D sculptures primarily out of recycled + reclaimed + re-used goods. The interior of each sculpture housed a handcrafted, plaster, facial mask. On July 31 + August 14 HANDMAKERY: A Children’s Art Studio will be hosting two more CRAFT NIGHTS: Under the Stars + In the Studio for children ages 6 – 9 years of age from 5:30 – 7:30PM! A peek at creating in our outdoor art studio at May’s First Friday in historic downtown Carbondale | CO! HANDMAKERY: A Children’s Art Studio had the opportunity be a sponsor at the Family Block Party for a second year! The Family Block Party is an annual event that includes a fabulous live band, beautiful face painting, exciting carnival games + a bounce house, arts + crafts {with us}, sweet adoptable pets looking for a forever home, a silent auction full of amazing giveaways, food + drink hosted by The Village Smithy Restaurant and more! Funds benefit Colorado Animal Rescue, Children’s Rocky Mountain Preschool and Carbondale Recreation! This night wouldn’t be possible without all the fabulous organizers, volunteers, local businesses, community sponsors + supporters and all the MANY families + friends that attended the 4-8PM celebration of moving into spring!
Happy 1st Birthday HANDMAKERY, so wonderful that SO many amazing HANDMAKERY artists + volunteers joined us for an action packed evening! Last year we made our debut at Family Block Party 2013, which was another incredible night of celebration and art-making with children!

HANDMAKERY: A Children’s Art Studio set in the outdoors of downtown!
It was a beautiful fall day that started out a little chilly but quickly warmed up as the sun began to shine in the Colorado, bluebird sky! Art making began at 11 and didn’t end until well over 3PM as the children just kept coming downtown to create! We had over 40+, little aspiring artists come to our art making/outdoor studio to create HARVEST CROWNS made of recycled cardboard + noodles + kid friendly paints in an array of festive fall colors + glitter to dazzle! What a fabulous day of creative fun, set to the tunes of Polka + delicious Austrian food. Lots of locals were out and about mingling. Take a peek at our HANDMAKERY HARVEST CROWNS below! A HUGE thank you to Carbondale Recreation Department for organizing this family fun event for the fall and keeping it FREE! HANDMAKERY loved being part of Oktoberfest 2013!
